Mission

Inviting people to join the journey and become followers of Christ

Values

We value Intimacy with God

We believe that the focus of Christianity is a relationship with God rather than adhering to a set of religious rules and regulations. Therefore we value intimacy with God rather than a religious system.  Intimacy with God is the key to worship.  He is to be worshipped in spirit and int ruth.  We worship God corporately as the church, privately through the way we live our lives, as well as the intimate communication we share with Him throughout the day.

We value Cultural relevance

Cultural relevance means:“bearing upon or connected with the matter at hand.”  In the church, we understand that to mean "changing methods without changing the message.” Therefore, we value preaching and teaching that is applicable to real life.  We acknowledge that worshiping God does not require any particular style of music. Therefore, The Journey Church seeks to be culturally relevant through an acoustic guitar driven music style that appreciates the old with upbeat hymns, and embraces the present with contemporary praise.  We know that today’s family is split between work, and activities so we seek to be relevant to them by providing the same topics of study for adults and children in order to facilitate discussion at home of spiritual matters.

We value a Communityof caring

We care about authentic, loving, growing relationships with each other through life’s good times and bad times.  It is not about impressing others; it is not about where you work, what you wear, or what you look like. It is simply about being you and being in relationship with God and others. God made us to be relational beings and real maturity and spiritual transformation comes through real relationships.  We believe it glorifies God to be a church using our gifts, talents, personality, passions, and influence by serving the community inside and outside of the church.

We value the missional lifestyle

The Great Commission is Jesus’ departing directions to his disciples, “Go into all the world . . .” At the Journey Church we believe that all Christians are missionaries.  We believe being missional is a“non-negotiable.”  We place a premium on the relentless pursuit of the lost and unchurched in our local community.  The Journey Church's missional concept is for members to be intentional in using their time to create authentic relationships with the unchurched in order for them to have the opportunity to ''share, invite, and disciple. As missionaries we seek to share our gospel story of faith in the unique setting where God has placed us.  The Journey church believes it is important to reproduce, therefore, as we grow, we will plant churches and partner with others to advance His kingdom in our city and beyond.  We value supporting the Southern Baptist Convention’s missions efforts at the association, state, national, and international levels.  Lastly, The Journey church values the utmost need to adopt unreached people groups and help to complete Bible translations for those people who do not have Scripture in their own language.

We value family

We know that healthy families in turn produce healthy churches and healthy communities.  The Journey Church seeks to strengthen families by implementing a simple church philosophy to increase family time. We equip parents to teach and model the authentic Christian life as they teach their children the fundamentals of the faith.  We use the same relevant teaching and preaching topics for adults and children so that families can discuss them at home and apply it in their lives together. We offer opportunities for families to learn, worship, serve, and be ambassadors for Christ together.

We value spiritual growth

As Christians we should be growing more like Christ with the passing of each day.  At The Journey Church, we grow together in Christ through corporate worship, private devotions, Bible Fellowship Groups, quarterly seminars, and opportunities to serve and share.
